SUMMARY:Green Saturday Opening
DESCRIPTION:Special opening of the Angelica Library on Saturday\, November 16 4 – 7 pm. A number of printed volumes on Hildegard of Bingen will be on display on the occasion. Hildegard of Bingen Discussions and Readings 4:45 p.m. Songs of a Benedictine mystic echo loudly in the cradle of Augustinian thought\, admirable gilded volumes testify today to the intellectual and soulful flavor of Hildegard. Cultural appointment and more. The intent is to pay homage to a woman who lived more than eight centuries ago\, but with relevant artistic and modern connotations. A life intertwined with spirituality and “worldliness\,” understood\, etymologically\, as consciousness and active participation: realizing a world of love\, cultivating the arts\, from literature to botany\, from music to alchemy. From humble beginnings he soon took the path of postulant monasticism\, confronting kings\, popes\, emperors and high political offices\, never forgetting his faith relationship with God and man. As a prelude to and on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women\, a portrait of a woman made spokeswoman for the humble\, who steadfastly and self-sacrificingly defended women’s rights\, which were already strongly subject to the ancestral and harsh judgment of men. Oppressed in life and death\, she was named a Doctor of the Church by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012. \nTheatrical and musical nods thanks to the soulful wisdom of actress Barbara Bricca and the rhythmic frequency of Francesca Turchetti’s guitar. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Eve's Mirror. For a reflection on gender-based violence.
DESCRIPTION:Eve’s Mirror is an essay on gender-based violence. A book\, in more than one respect\, “composite and protean.” Not only and not so much a denunciation\, but a researched and evocative journey that illuminates the innermost folds of an ancient problem. Yet dramatically current. Well-grounded in the present\, but not oblivious to the past and attentive to the future\, “the essays\, varied and complementary\,” that comprise it\, in fact\, “traverse the history of the world\, of the country and of religions.” And by analyzing “normative and jurisprudential achievements\, international relations with EU commitments and the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda\, the world of work\, society and the family\,” they represent a valuable tool for renewed reflection. But\, also and above all\, a call for commitment\, ethical and in a high political sense\, from each and every one.

SUMMARY:Piero 90!
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the 90th birthday of Giampiero Bozzacchi\, one of the greatest Italian experts in book restoration and in the history of artifacts and binding techniques from the Mediterranean area\, Western but also Islamic and Ethiopian\, we decided to bring together all his writings\, still today an absolute reference for archaeological and technical studies on books\, in a volume\, which will be released within the year\, entitled: Piero 90! Complete edition of Giampiero Bozzacchi’s writings on the history of book restoration and binding techniques\, edited by Paolo Crisostomi and Chiara Faia\, published by Vecchiarelli Editore. \nOn his birthday\, September 24\, the Tabula Gratulatoria\, contained in the upcoming volume\, will be presented at the Salone Vanvitelliano of the Biblioteca Angelica in Rome\, where the greetings of “friends” with whom the Maestro shared work\, experiences and teachings have been gathered. Together gathered in a collective embrace to celebrate a great milestone achieved and to express\, once again\, a feeling of esteem\, affection\, gratitude for his contribution\, human and professional\, to the history of book restoration in Italy.
