SUMMARY:Dantedì 2026- "A sun was born into the world"
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Dantedì is closely linked to the eighth centenary of the death of the Poor Man of Assisi (October 3\, 1226). The profound bond between Dante and Francis\, as identified in the “Panegyric” of Canto XI\, can be artistically captured in the beautiful “Allegory of Chastity\,” a fresco (dated before 1322) preserved in the lower church of the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi: the saint is depicted welcoming the poet\, a Franciscan tertiary\, to climb up to the rock of Purity. The interior reading of the “Panegyric” and the “Canticle of the Creatures\,” hosted at the Vaso vanvitelliano of the Angelica Library\, will be embellished by the beautiful antiphon of Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179)\, a German nun and sister of the Poverello of Assisi. A shared embrace of spiritual life culminating in a song of praise to Creation.Translated with DeepL.com (free version) \nReading by poet Andrea Mariotti \nVoices of Maria Letizia De Berardinis and Roberto Bisconti \nExegesis by Dante scholar Annamaria Vanalesti

SUMMARY:5 Single Act of Love
DESCRIPTION:In “5”\, a one-act play about love\, the theatrical dimension comes across strongly\, rendered sincere and satisfying in a succession of monologues and dialogues\, music and lights that intertwine relentlessly amid the torments and sighs of the protagonists.\nTwo divas\, people and “characters” meet the audience in an intense scent of aroma and passion. \nHowever\, amid the refined elegance of love\, a precise “literary” and “poetic” style emerges almost naturally\, restoring an intellectual and cultural dimension to the comedy and conveying the dramatic message to both the hearts and minds of the audience. \nIn this production\, the characters deliberately “dream\,” and so the dreamlike dialogue between Marilyn and Coco powerfully evokes references to the plays “Life Is a Dream” by Calderón de la Barca\, through Pasolini’s ‘Calderón’ and “Rosaura’s Dream\,” to arrive at “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with its Shakespearean echoes\, and finally to “What Are the Clouds?\,” Pasolini’s poetic-cinematic work. \nAbove all\, the ultimate question: What is reality? Is it a dream\, fiction\, truth\, or reality itself? This is the question posed by Norma Jean\, the passionate yet bewildered protagonist\, to the “mystical” storyteller Coco Chanel: in this age of “multiplicity” and baroque intricacy\, the answer to the “transcendent” lies in the sacredness of love. \nTo reach the “truth” and beauty\, one must remain in the human dimension with an exalted gaze toward the Highest. \nThe authors we have “smoothed” like the sea does with rocks suggest emotional balance: we will find a little truth in deception or good in evil or\, again\, reality in fiction. \nThe important thing is to rediscover the balance between “appearing” and “being\,” the strong emotional discomfort that permeates Norma’s character and that dances continuously in the hands of her beloved Arthur so that “love triumphs\, true love\, the kind that does not betray.”

SUMMARY:Narcissus Perverso Fatal Love
DESCRIPTION:Presentation of the book published by Vallecchi editore \nAuthor Paola Marzotto in conversation with Paolo Landi at the Salone Vanvitelliano on November 5 at 6 p.m. \n  \n\nWhat happens when love becomes control?\n\n\nWhen love bends to narcissism\, it is no longer a feeling\, but a battlefield. In a plot that blends Greek drama with surrealist prose\, an intense and visceral story unfolds\, where the bond between victim and perpetrator becomes symbiotic\, magnetic\, destructive. Past\nand present chase each other like in a feverish dream\, while the dynamics of control\, power\, and identity are revealed in their cruelest form. With writing that cuts like a scalpel and caresses like a dream\, the author penetrates the anatomy of narcissism: a dark spell that seduces\, marks\, and then annihilates. Through the echo of psychoanalysis and the emotional power of inner theater\, a single truth emerges: sometimes you have to go through the hell of sick love to recognize yourself and be reborn.

SUMMARY:Dante's precious path
DESCRIPTION:An opportunity to offer a new version of Dante’s masterpiece\, an adaptation that will be dressed in the artistic uniqueness typical of jewelry. It will be the precious objects\, in fact\, that will accompany visitors in this experience. An evocative journey yes\, but also quite exciting\, capable of giving the public unique sensations thanks to the rich symbolism of objects and colors. The pieces\, installations and photographic elements interpret in their own way the events\, protagonists and metaphors described by Dante throughout the work. Charon\, the Erinyes and the Minotaur\, with their imposing figures and terrifying decorations\, represent Hell. In Purgatory\, envy\, wrath\, avarice and prodigality are the most feared sins. In Paradise\, Beatrice opens the door to a starlit sky\, whose light accompanies her to the end of the journey. Diego Percossi Papi is known through the unmistakable style of his jewelry.

SUMMARY:The Throne and the Altar War in the Vatican: an untold story
DESCRIPTION:Is twenty years enough time to understand the deep dynamics of complex organizations such as the Catholic Church? This book is a research between chronicle and history based on a considerable amount of documents\, open sources and access to direct witnesses. It is an investigation of the Vatican transition and the powers that tried to prevent it\, bringing together the two pontificates of Benedict and Francis. No-holds-barred struggles\, intrigues\, catamounts\, and the weight of money\, including dirty money\, have almost blocked the engine room of Peter’s Boat. Over the past two decades\, the Vatican’s global influence has often been on a collision course with the interests of other states (from the U.S. to China\, from Russia to the European Union and Italy). A clash that has also passed through real episodes of espionage against the Holy See and attempts to influence the government of the Church. What has happened in the Vatican in recent years\, especially the financial scandals\, is not the result of chance but of a maneuver put in place to influence and direct the activity of the Catholic Church\, also in the perspective of the election of the next Pope.

On the two days of Saturday\, Sept. 28 and Sunday\, Sept. 29\, cultural places and\, in particular\, the Libraries of Italy\, are invited to organize extraordinary openings\, meetings\, and events promoting “Heritage on the Way\,” the topic of the 2024 edition. It is an invitation to reflect on the value of cultural heritage in relation to paths\, routes\, connections and networks that\, today or in the past\, have made possible relations and exchanges between peoples and cultures and contributed to the formation of our identity. A welcome opportunity for the Libraries of Italy to remain open and organize guided tours\, special openings\, lectures\, exhibitions\, workshops.
