DESCRIPTION:The Farnese family in 16th-century Rome. Origins and fortune of a collection\n \nThe exhibition\, curated by Chiara Rabbi Bernard and Claudio Parisi Presicce\, is dedicated to the Farnese collection\, the highest expression of scholarly collecting\, supported by Pope Paul III (1534-1549) and his nephews. The exhibition\, held at the Capitoline Museums\, Villa Caffarelli\, is organised in collaboration with Civita Mostre e Musei and Zètema Progetto Cultura. \n \nOne hundred and forty masterpieces\, including ancient sculptures\, bronzes\, paintings\, drawings\, manuscripts\, gems and coins from the most prestigious collection of Renaissance artworks and archaeological finds\, are on display in the exhibition spaces of Villa Caffarelli\, at the Capitoline Museums. Barocco Globale ci accompagna in un viaggio attraverso una Roma cosmopolita\, al centro di una complessa rete di viaggi e rapporti che trascendono confini nazionali e culturali. L’Africa\, l’America\, l’Asia erano presenze tangibili e visibili nella Roma di questa epoca; opere d’arte di maestri del Barocco come Gian Lorenzo Bernini\, Pietro da Cortona\, Nicolas Poussin\, ci proiettano in un mondo sorprendentemente multietnico e multiculturale\, in cui missionari e diplomatici mettevano in dialogo\, alla corte dei Papi\, il Giappone con la Persia\, il Congo col Nuovo Mondo. \nFonte: scuderiequirinale.it
