The collection was formed over the years following the layering of the other Angelic funds.<\/p>\n<p>Among the illuminated incunabula, a specimen of the first Italian edition of the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/bibliotecaangelica.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=229\">Historia naturalis <\/a><\/em>by Pliny (Venice,1476) with the c.\/6\/r entirely illuminated by an artist of the Ferrarese school.<\/p>\n<p>Of particular note is the presence of the first movable type book printed in Italy, the <a href=\"http:\/\/bibliotecaangelica.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=246\"><br \/><em>De Oratore<\/em><\/a> by Cicero, Subiaco 1465. It is one of three specimens currently preserved in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Another Sublacensis edition owned is the <a href=\"http:\/\/bibliotecaangelica.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=242\"><em>De civitate Dei<\/em><\/a> by St. Augustine from 1467.<\/p>\n<p>Also noteworthy are the<em>Opera omnia<\/em> of Aristotle in the editio princeps by Aldo Manuzio, 1495-1498, given in 1605 to <a href=\"http:\/\/bibliotecaangelica.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=103\">Angelo Rocca<\/a> and the first edition of the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/bibliotecaangelica.cultura.gov.it\/?page_id=234\">Divine Comedy<\/a> <\/em>printed in Foligno in 1472.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Incunabula The Library has more than 1100 incunabula.
