Starting precisely from such illustrations, Klára Sedlo becomes the creator of an extraordinary series of paintings in which, with scientific precision and rigor in the use of technique, the artist reproduces flowers, leaves, small shrubs and still lifes, reinterpreted in a modern key and in the light of that ascendancy that the oneiric exerts in her production. The genesis of the project is still in progress: at present the series consists of about 80 paintings, but it is destined to grow in the near future to include the nearly 150 plant illustrations popularized by the Voynich manuscript, now preserved at the Beinecke Library of Rare Books and Manuscripts at Yale University (United States), but discovered for the first time in Italy, at the Jesuit college of Villa Mondragone (Frascati). Noteworthy and particularly significant, then, centuries later, is the virtual return of the illustrated portion of the manuscript to the country where it all began.
Born in 1993, Klára Sedlo is a young artist originally from the Czech Republic. She likes to explore and represent the psychological sphere with the addition of elements of pop culture, references to the world of kitsch and horror, which are integrated in a playful and ironic way. She has participated in several exhibitions both in the Czech Republic and abroad (USA, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, among others) and her works appear in various collections in the United States, Europe, Japan and Australia.

VOYNICH MANUSCRIPT FLORA
Solo exhibition of Klára Sedlo
Curated by Anna Isopo with the collaboration of Martina Scavone
Angelica Library Gallery – Via di S.
