To mark the 190th anniversary of the composition of *La Ginestra*, on Tuesday, May 19, at 11 a.m., the Salone Vanvitelliano at the Biblioteca Angelica will host an exegesis and an in-depth reading of this famous \u201cVesuvian\u201d poem. Speakers will include poet Andrea Mariotti, a member of the \u201cLaboratorio Leopardi\u201d (Sapienza University of Rome), and Annamaria Vanalesti, professor, essayist, and passionate scholar of Giacomo Leopardi.<\/p>\n
Included in the famous collection *Canti*, *La Ginestra* was composed by the great poet from Recanati at Villa Ferrigni, near Torre del Greco, in the spring of 1836, a year before his death. Nearly two hundred years later, it reveals the full force of its startling relevance in the face of the current global turmoil: a supreme Leopardi-esque appeal for human solidarity. <\/p>\n
