The General Directorate for Libraries and Copyright of the Ministry of Culture has since the late 1990s developed programs and projects aimed at the knowledge, enhancement and use on the web of the digitized cultural heritage owned and preserved in state, public and prestigious Italian cultural institutions’ libraries. The portal Cultural Internet. Catalogs and digital collections of Italian libraries, entrusted to the care and directed by the Central Institute for the Single Catalogue of Italian Libraries ICCU, was created in the intentions, to create a single and integrated access to the heritage of Italian libraries through the Catalogues and through the Libraries’ Digital Collections.
