Preservation and Restoration
The Office is responsible for activities aimed at ensuring the protection and restoration of the Library’s ancient and modern documentary material.
For preventive protection, the Office monitors the environmental data of the library storerooms and rooms by means of digital instruments for the detection and recording of relative humidity and temperature values.
Schedule periodic dusting and possible disinfection and disinfestation.
It regulates and controls the proper handling and use of documents, through specific rules and the use of appropriate laws.
It identifies and selects documents in a poor state of preservation. Based on financial coverage, it plans, schedules and verifies restoration work, which is entrusted to and carried out by external laboratories.
For antique material, the Project-File for the Restoration of Library Goods prepared by the MiC is compiled.
It welcomes training placements.
