The Office is responsible for activities aimed at ensuring the preservation and restoration of the Library’s historical and modern documentary material.

As part of its preventative conservation measures, the Office monitors the environmental conditions in the book storage areas and reading rooms by using digital devices to measure and record relative humidity and temperature levels.
It organises regular dusting and, where necessary, disinfection and pest control.
It regulates and monitors the correct handling and use of documents through specific regulations and the application of relevant legislation.

It identifies and selects documents in a poor state of preservation. In base alla copertura finanziaria, programma, progetta e verifica gli interventi di restauro, affidati ed eseguiti da laboratori esterni.
Per il materiale antico viene compilata la Scheda-Progetto per il Restauro dei Beni Librari elaborata dal MiC.
