Purchases and gifts

In 2025, the Angelica Library increased its book collection by 345 volumes, of which 275 were purchased and 70 were received as donations. There are 104 subscriptions to periodicals and 19 periodicals received as donations.

The topics covered are:
- the life and works of Saint Augustine
- the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation
- Humanism and the Renaissance
- Italian literature from the 14th to the 20th century
- Bibliography and Library Science

PURCHASES

The criteria for selecting the library material to be purchased respect the nature and purpose of the Institute and the relevance of its holdings, also considering the holdings of other libraries in the area and the financial resources available.

GIFTS

Due in part to space constraints, the Angelica Library accepts donations of individual volumes, collections and book holdings only if they are consistent with the nature and aims of the Institute.
If you wish to donate any books, please draw up a list and contact the Acquisitions and Donations Office.
Donations brought to or sent to the library without prior authorisation will not be considered.
The following works are excluded:

– children’s literature
– school textbooks
– art history books
– books on Rome
– books on philosophy and the Church Fathers

DESIRED

The Library encourages and welcomes purchase requests from its users.
Requests can be sent by email or made in the reading room, where a wish list is available.
For each purchase request, please state: the title, author and publisher, and briefly explain why you are suggesting the purchase.
